Gavin Newsom signed two bills Tuesday aimed at protecting actors and other performers from unauthorized use of their digital likenesses. A lot of dreamers come to California, but sometimes they’re not well-represented,” Newsom said in a video shared on social media Tuesday. The union has strongly advocated for the new laws, along with other protections for actors and other performers surrounding AI. In July, Hollywood video game performers voted to strike over continual AI concerns. “But AI is about to explode, and in a way that we have no idea what the consequences are.”

The Kansas Attorney General’s Office said in a statement Friday that it was Hanks’ admission in new interviews that allowed authorities to charge him in 2022, when he was living in Burden, Kansas. The sheriff said they believe it is the oldest cold case in Kansas to be solved and result in a conviction. In his interviews, Hanks admitted to killing Walter, the attorney general’s office said. The statements from the sheriff and attorney general’s office, and online court records, don’t say whether Hanks ever revealed his motive for killing Walter. Officials with the attorney general’s office and Hanks’ attorney did not immediately respond to requests for comment from The Associated Press on Saturday.

But it was only when Putin launched his full-scale invasion of Ukraine , in 2022, that Ammosov began to plot the overthrow of his homeland. As I found in months of wide-ranging interviews, everyone aspiring to a new Russian revolution grasps the seemingly impossible odds of their bid to topple Putin. London CNN —Ed Sheeran surprised fans at a supermarket outside of London on Tuesday, where he dished out pizza and signed his autograph for fans – in hot sauce. Sheeran announced the event, which was being held to promote his hot sauce line, “Tingly Ted’s,” on his Instagram story. Sheeran signed his autograph for fans using the sauce. A “lifelong ketchup and hot sauce obsessive,” according to the Tingly Ted’s website, Sheeran has the Heinz tomato ketchup label tattooed on his arm. He created the hot sauce to realize his dream of making “the ketchup of hot sauces,” it said.

Haley Joel Osment Sees Contentment

Haley Joel Osment’s childhood memories are not like other people’s. A phalanx of Osment clones, made for that movie, are still floating around — he heard they might have ended up stockpiled in Peter Jackson’s trove of memorabilia in New Zealand. If the apocalypse happens, Osment jokes, that preteen version of him will survive. It is, in any case, the form in which many fans know him best — especially as the notably named Cole Sear, the teary-eyed center of “The Sixth Sense,” M. Night Shyamalan’s blockbuster supernatural thriller from August 1999. It was a phrase so potent that, 25 years after its arrival, it is a Kendrick Lamar lyric — on a Drake diss track, no less.

Thanks to de-aging technology, De Niro portrayed Sheeran throughout his life, the lines on his face digitally smoothed. There are a few ways to make actors appear younger on screen using technology, each with advantages and disadvantages. In 2019’s “Gemini Man," the younger version of Will Smith’s character Henry Brogan has a fully CGI head. How Tom Hanks’s Son Spawned a Hateful Meme Online
  + stars: | 2024-07-02 | by ( Steven Lee Myers | ) www.nytimes.com   time to read: +1 min
In the spring of 2021, Chet Hanks, the singer, actor and son of Tom, posted a series of statements and a music video with a refrain that caused confusion, not to mention a fair bit of cringing. Thousands of posts using the slogan “white boy summer” have appeared on the Telegram app this year. It’s been used by far-right groups to recruit new followers, organize protests and encourage violence, especially against immigrants and L.G.B.T.Q. people, the report said. For many of those who use it now, the phrase represents an unapologetic embrace of white heterosexual masculinity, often at the expense of women and people of color.

Remo Saraceni, a sculptor, toy inventor and technological fantasist best known for creating the Walking Piano that Tom Hanks and Robert Loggia danced on in a beloved scene of the hit 1988 movie “Big,” died on June 3 in Swarthmore, Pa. Mr. Saraceni died at Mr. Medaugh’s home, where he had been living in recent years. Mr. Saraceni’s specialty was “interactive electronics,” he told New York magazine in 1976. All were powered by what Mr. Saraceni (pronounced SAR-ah-SAY-nee) called “people energy”: the voice, touch and heat of the human body. The power of this sort of technology to enchant its users became a pivotal plot element of “Big,” and in turn the central prop in one of the most fondly recalled scenes in recent movie history.

Double majors are less likely to experience "earnings shocks" like job losses, per a new paper. While it’s unclear why graduates with double majors offered workers this protection, the researchers speculated that it had something to do with their diversified skillsets. A University of Pennsylvania research paper from 2021 found that double majors tended to earn more money over the course of their careers — STEM and business double majors saw the biggest income boost.
